AI-generated content has rules attached now.

Do you post AI-made audio or video that looks real? The law calls it 'synthetically generated information'. The IT Rules 2026 put most duties on platforms. Law: large social media platforms must ask you to declare such content (Rule 4(1A)). Plain text is not covered.

What applies to you

Do these first. 1. Law: big platforms must ask if your post is AI-made (Rule 4(1A)). Answer truthfully. Their terms and warnings apply to you (Rule 3(1)(ca)). 2. Law: never make banned fakes. These include nude images without consent, or fakes about a real person. 3. Good practice: keep your prompts and files. 4. Good practice: learn how to complain to the platform if someone fakes you. 5. Law: if you host other people's posts, you may have your own duties.
