How this site is researched, checked, and kept current — so you can judge the source, not just trust the summary.
What counts as a source here
We cite official government, regulator and court websites. These are Indian sites ending in .gov.in or .nic.in, plus EUR-Lex, the EDPB, legislation.gov.uk and the UK ICO. Our content checker blocks any other link as a source. We do not cite blogs, law-firm or news articles, coaching sites, trackers or Wikipedia.
What we have checked so far
We have opened and read these documents: the DPDP Act, 2023; the DPDP Rules, 2025 (G.S.R. 846(E)); G.S.R. 843(E) on start dates; MeitY's 6 May 2026 Board notice; the IT Rules 2021 as amended to 10 February 2026, and MeitY's FAQ; S.O. 942(E) on the large-platform threshold; the India AI Governance Guidelines; the DPIIT working paper on AI and copyright; and the Online Gaming Rules, 2026 (G.S.R. 303(E)). We have not yet opened the CERT-In Directions of 28 April 2022 or the IT Act, 2000 text: on 9 October 2026 both official links failed to load for us.
What is not checked yet
Many other items, including most RBI, SEBI and IRDAI documents, are not yet checked against the original. We mark them on the page as "Primary source not yet confirmed" or put them in a "Reported, not confirmed" box. Each one is listed in our public verification queue.
Dates on each page
A page shows "Last updated" only when its content changed on that date. We show "Last reviewed" only if a person has recorded a review. The footer's site build date is not a page date.
Who maintains it
India AI Rulebook is maintained by Sandesh Kokate as editor. It is independent, free, and needs no login. It claims no legal credential. It is educational only, not legal advice.
